Hi Jane,
I hope you are all well. Just a few lines to say thank you for a great holiday. It was so nice to see you all again. As usual, we had a wonderful time in the beautiful setting of Tinney Waters.
You will see from the attached pictures the fishing was fantastic and we both caught lots of fish. The pictures arte just a selection of the fish that we caught. We are planning our next holiday with you and hope to be back in September.
A warm friendly welcome, peace and quiet in such a lovely place and fantastic fishing - what more could we need?
Looking forward to seeing you again soon. Best wishes Jean Elms
Dear Jane,
Just a short note to thank you for my latest visit to “ Tinney “
My grandson Connor had an absolutely great time and is already pleading for a
return trip.
It was really lovely to meet up with old friends ( Darren & Jamie ) after 3
years and also making new ones. A special vote of thanks to Lloyd for spending
so many hours with Connor late evenings trying to get him his first Tinney carp
– I’m not sure who got most enjoyment from it. This friendliness exactly
illustrates the unique nature of Tinney Waters and explains why so many people
return time after time.
The advent of the evening meal was a great bonus for a person in my position -
not wanting to cook and too lazy to go out ( and miss some fishing time ). What
a treat, so my thanks to Marcus and your good self for that very worthwhile
catering. An experience which was well up to the standards already set by your
full breakfast.
Although the weather left something to be desired the fishing was as good as
ever and we enjoyed our week and for that we thank you !

Hi Jane
The bait we were catching most fish on were 11mm double hair rigged pellets
wraps in paste, a few were caught on sweet corn on hair rigs. We had about a
dozen carp around 5-7lb Tench up to 2 1/2lb and the one perch all from the top
lake, unfortunately the bottom lake which has the larger fish was spawning so
were not feeding.
We found the waters very peaceful with a variety of wildlife to watch, & was
nice to be able to leave all the tackle by the lakes overnight with no one
interfering with it.
My partner found it really restful and caught up on the many
books she wanted to read. Everybody we met there were friendly and always
willing to chat and give information on what was best for what swim.
Once again thanks for a great week (pity about the weather)

Hi Jane,
I am writing to thank you for yet another delightful holiday at Tinney Waters. It is a beautiful place so peaceful and relaxing. We all had a wonderful time and caught a lot of fish as usual. I have attached some pictures for you to see. I have also sent pictures of the awards Peter got for the fish he caught in April.
Peter has been teaching me to fish and even I as a very novice angler caught some nice fish. Our grandson also thoroughly enjoyed the experience and even managed with a little help to catch a fish. We have had some very enjoyable and relaxing holidays with you Thank You.
We are now looking forward to coming again next year and I will be in touch soon to book. Bye for now. Kind Regards. Jean and Peter Elms

Dear Jane,
Many thanks for providing us with a really enjoyable stay at Tinney waters. The fishing was really enjoyable with all three pools providing excellent fishing that was totally different from most commercial fisheries. Top pool provided good small fish action for the kids and when dad picked up their gear especially in the evening Tench were found to be on the feed and could be targeted with meat baits. Plenty of carp activity in his pool as seen from the caravan window but I did not get the time (unfortunately) to properly search them out.
Middle pool I only fished once and caught larger silver fish with some heavier bream, plenty of carp spotted but none contacted, save this one for another occasion!
Bottom pool is the fishery I found most to my liking, with a mixture of open water and overhanging tree type swims. The carp where found in all locations but never came in without being properly hunted, stalking being the key on this water. Bread and mixers fished controller float and free line style worked for me along with meat fished in very tight to the margins. The fish fought extremely hard with even small fish making the reel drag sing a fair amount. Ben enjoyed catching on the pole and was able to catch larger Rudd and carp on small meat baits, the swim with the overhanging trees being best for this style of fishing. The Ghost carp which are numerous in the bottom pool really pull your string and make dazzling runs that take some skill to get to the net.
The atmosphere of the place is very relaxed and extremely friendly. The company of dogs, thieving finches, Indian runners, ducks, geese was very endearing as well as glimpses of various wild creature such as deer and a multitude of wild birds.
The caravans are comfortable, well equipped and without doubt excellent value. We shall definitely consider Tinney Waters in the coming years as a choice for our vacations.
Thanks again for a wonderful summer break enjoyed by us all.

Dear Jane,
A note of thanks for a very good short stay at Tinney Waters. The two days spent carp fishing on the middle lake ended with a very productive catch of 31 carp for a total weight slightly in excess of 170 lbs. The best fish was a common carp of 17 lb 11 oz. with three other doubles. As a change, the day spent pole fishing for skimmer bream and roach was also excellent and helped make for a very enjoyable break. I look forward to a return visit. I can taste the breakfast already! Best wishes. (John Davine)

My visit to Tinney Waters.
As a regular visitor to Tinney Waters I feel compelled to write and explain some of the reasons I return there year after year. The only problem I find in writing this is where to start. Tinney is a true back to nature fishery. There is a friendly, relaxed feeling from the moment you drive up the lane leading to the entrance. Although seemingly in the middle of nowhere Tinney is within a few minutes of all needed facilities. Holsworthy is just a few minutes drive and has all the required shops, banks etc that you will need during your stay. The nearest pub, the Holsworthy Arms is a great place for a meal or a drink, or both. Bude and other places of interest are close by so all in all Tinney is a good central base if you want to do anything other than fish.
That brings me to the fishing, it is a natural spring fed venue and all 3 lakes fish very different. I feel like I am setting out on a little adventure every time I set up my rod or pole. I have found a very productive swim on the middle lake, my last 2 visit have both produced 40lb + bags a day. These have both needed the pole to fish near a tree that is hanging just into the water. It was here last July that I hooked the carp I have named ‘Concorde’. My float went and before I could drop my pole tip into the water the carp had bottomed my elastic and snapped me, more than supersonic I think. I had 2 nice carp from this swim this week, one early in the morning and one at dusk.
All 3 lakes are challenging, although you should find it easy to get into the Rudd, skimmers and Roach that are abundant in the top 2 lakes. This makes them ideal for children, a light rod and line will get them started and help build their confidence. I have found a couple of swims for Tench, these are my fish of the moment. They are both on the top lake and if you ask Jane I am sure she will point them out to you. Once in a swim that you like you will find the peace and quiet so important to anglers like me. The local birds pay regular visits to your bait tray so make sure you take an extra pint of maggots for them.
I must admit I find the venue very laid back which is absolutely, wonderful for me. Even the resident cockerel doesn’t start his wake up calls until noon. If you need to unwind and get away from a stressful job for a quiet, relaxing fishing holiday then this is the place for you. If going as a family your children will find the resident animals and the lovely settings a real change from the concrete cities we all seem to live in nowadays. They can enjoy the more traditional pastimes that we once all enjoyed.
Jane who owns the fishery is a lovely lady who can not do enough to help, overall I recommend Tinney waters highly and if you would like any more information or pictures of my catches there please feel free to email me at crypticcharlie@msn.com quoting tinney0405 as the topic.
